Fjallraven Jackets – G1000
Garments made entirely from G-1000 can be machine washed at 40°C. Those padded with down or synthetic insulation, or made from a combination of G-1000 and other materials, should be washed according to the washing instructions that can be found in each garment. The fact that G-1000 garments have been impregnated with Greenland Wax does not affect other clothing in the same wash, so you can wash your waxed garments together with other items of clothing. As always, however, you should wash similar colours together.
- Don’t re-wax too often. Not until after two-three washes will the original Greenland Wax impregnation be completely washed out of your G-1000 garment, so you do not need to re-wax your garment after every wash. If you have washed a garment once and it feels like the wax has soaked into the fabric you can reactivate it by hanging it in a warm drying cabinet or ironing it on a low heat setting.
- Apply the wax in long strokes. Rub the wax over the jacket material, making sure you cover all of the material well.
- Melt the wax into the fabric. Use an iron on low/moderate heat with no stream (remember to wipe off the iron before you use it on other garments) or a hairdryer. The wax melts at approximately 55-60°C.
- Repeat the process, if you want the product to be more water resistant.
